About Us:
Like so many people, we love Hawai'i. And during our many visits over the years we always
dreamed of finding a special place, some where we could marvel at the sunset's transforming
pink clouds, hear the many melodies of a tropical garden, and listen to the crashing surf
while catching the amazing sight of a whale breaching just off shore. Well, we found that
place, and it is the Hilo Seaside Retreat on the very, very special Big Island of Hawaii.
Our affair began many years ago when my grandfather, Johno Jackson founded and built Kona Village in the early '60s, one of the first major destination resorts on the Kona coast. Established near the site of the ancient village of Ka`upulehu and created with the island lifestyle in mind, I came to know, respect and experience the spirit of aloha early in life. 
For those of you who have visited us before, you know that spirit of aloha and old Hawai’i are alive and well at the Hilo Seaside Retreat due in large part to Patti Oliver, the previous owner and caretaker. 
We owe many mahalos to Patti. While she has moved on in her endeavors, know that Patti is not far away, and by the way, is still available for those amazing therapeutic massages you remember so well. All in all we feel very blessed, and we hope you enjoy that same aloha spirit of old Hawai'i when you stay at our very special retreat.  or
